Troubleshooting

Please check if your device is suitable. Check the pairing with your tablet via Bluetooth – go to "Settings/Bluetooth/Add devices". If necessary, disconnect and pair the devices again via Bluetooth.

Problems pairing the scanner?

If you encounter unexpected complications while pairing the scanner, there are some ways to resolve the issue:

Scanner to be connected for the first time

In this case, the device will appear in the tablet's Bluetooth settings under "Other Devices" (iOS) or "Available Devices" (Android). The device must be selected to start the pairing process. For instructions on the individual steps, please refer to the enclosed instructions for use. For the hardware we recommend, a quick start guide is available for download under Recommended Hardware .

Keyboard language customization

A scanner takes over the otherwise necessary manual entry of data via the keyboard at the touch of a button (scanning). In order for the scanned characters to match the expected characters, the same language must be set for both the scanner and the connected tablet.

For the language setting of the scanner, please refer to the instructions for use of the scanner supplier. You can adjust the language setting on the tablet in the system settings of your tablet under "Keyboards".

NOTE: With some operating systems, the scanner must first be paired. Only then is a separate hardware keyboard offered for language setting:

Scanner was already connected to the tablet

The device will appear under "My Devices" (iOS) or "Known Devices" (Android). Scanning the pairing code of the manufacturer's configuration guide is enough to reconnect the scanner to the tablet.

If this fails, it may be necessary to remove the device in the settings and start the pairing process again . This can be the case after an update of the operating system .

Testing scanners and tablets without the HOMAG app

Even without using a HOMAG app, you can simply test whether the QR codes are received correctly by your tablet.
Proceed as follows:

  1. Open your tablet's Bluetooth settings and make sure the scanner is connected to the tablet.

  2. On your tablet, open the Notes app. This app is usually pre-installed.

  3. Scan the following QR code.

The following text should now appear in your notes: aBY#-%0_@z

If the text displayed on your tablet does not match the above text, please change the keyboard settings of your scanner and/or tablet. To change this setting on your scanner, please refer to the scanner's user manual.

Note: The keyboard language of the tablet and scanner should match.
