Construction plans for the edgeband shelf

The components of our "Edgeband Management Set" also include blueprints for the "materialRack Edge" edgeband shelf, which we provide to you.

You can download all related data under the download link on the right side (download construction plans).

Under the download link you will find a package with the following data:

  • Drawings Edge Tape Shelf

  • Cutting list (Excel format)

  • List of fittings and materials

  • CNC programs (MPR format)

  • Nesting CNC programs (MPR format) for the nesting process

Please note that the blueprints are designed for a panel material thickness of 19 mm.

If you want to integrate the components into an existing solution , then take a look at the installation dimensions.

Cutting list for the edgeband shelf

The cutting list contains all the components you need to build the edgeband racking. You can easily import this list into a cutting optimization software (e.g. intelliDivide Cutting or Schnitt Profi(t)).  The types of panel materials required for cutting optimization can be found in the material and fitting list.

Bodies

The edgeband shelf consists of 6 carcasses that are assembled individually. The lower carcasses stand on the floor with plinth adjustable feet. Due to their stability, the upper carcasses are mounted on an intermediate layer of solid wood strips. Finally, you can close the gaps with panels and visible sides.

In order items 1.1 - 1.6 all required carcass components are summarized.

4 bodies (2 each for the lower half and 2 for the upper half) have identical dimensions. They are used to store the edge bands.

In addition, 2 other narrower bodies are included. One of the two is used to hold the electronics, the other to hold the separators.

Visible sides, bezels and dividers

In order items 2.1 - 2.4 we have combined all the required visible sides, panels and dividers.

The visible sides are assembled at the end. They form the left and right end of the edgeband shelf.

The grooves for the LED strips are milled into the front panels.

The rear bezels serve as spacers. The chipboard screens are screwed to a 40 mm solid wood strip at the front and rear.

The dividers are included in the cutting list in 2 versions – with a number of 40 pieces each.

We recommend using the narrow dividers with a width of 485 mm for edge tape rolls with a smaller diameter. The wide separators with a width of 705 mm are suitable for edge tape rolls with a larger diameter and in combination with the edgeBOXX edge tape packaging (available from autumn 2020).

You can adjust the number to your individual needs.

Tablet and printer holder

Order item 3.1 summarizes all components required for the tablet and printer holder.

This bracket is optional. However, we recommend that you use this proven combination of tablet and printer holder, because it has a decisive advantage: you can easily build it yourself.

Alternatively, you can use a commercially available tablet holder.

Details of the cutting list

The item number in the cutting list serves as a unique identifier for each component.

The cutting list contains various additional component information such as edge information and the CNC program names (*.mpr) . If two CNC programs are required to process a component, you will find the name of the second CNC program in the column "CNC program 2".

Fittings and material list for the edgeband shelf

The hardware and materials list gives you an overview of the amount of edging and panel materials required, as well as the type and number of fittings required.

For the construction, we used the most common eccentric connectors, dowels and hinges.

If possible, the fittings should correspond to the planned, required drilling pattern.

Alternatively, you can of course adjust the drilling patterns in the CNC programs if you want to use other fittings.

The necessary fittings such as eccentric connectors, dowels and hinges can be obtained from various suppliers.

The required holes for the listed fittings are already programmed in the CNC programs provided.

CNC programs for the edgeband shelf

This CNC program set in MPR format contains the required CNC programs of the individual components for CNC machining.

You can assign the respective MPR programs to the components using the columns "CNC Program 1" and  CNC Program 2" in the cutting list .

If two CNC programs are required for machining for a component, you can find the name of the second CNC program in the column "CNC program 2".

If you want to glue your shelf instead of using eccentric connectors, you can set the variable "Fix" from "1" to "0" in the CNC program. This deactivates all holes for eccentric housings and bolts.

Nesting CNC programs for the edgeband shelf

The zip folder "Nesting CNC programs materialRack Edge 19mm" contains all the information you need for nesting cutting:

  • Nesting CNC program set in MPR format

  • Cutting list for nesting

  • Others require CNC programs in MPR format, which contain machining that cannot be processed in the nesting process.

You can assign the respective MPR programs to the components using the columns "CNC Program 1" and  CNC Program 2" in the cutting list.

If two CNC programs are required for machining for a component, you can find the name of the second CNC program in the column "CNC program 2" in the cutting list.

The corresponding CNC programs can be found in the "CNC Program 2" folder in the zip folder.

Please note that you must use the cutting list also available in this folder for nesting.

Conditions for using the blueprints

The construction plans have been drawn up to the best of our knowledge and taking into account technical concerns. Despite careful examination, errors may occur in connection with your machine and software settings, for which HOMAG cannot assume any liability. In addition, the installation situation, load, anchoring and stability of the rack must be checked and ensured individually.   check the blueprints for any errors and is responsible for the use of the blueprints and CNC programs and the resulting racking.
