The productionAssist Sorting app is part of the "Sorting Production Set" sorting assistant.
Before the first use, the components of the set must be commissioned. As soon as the commissioning is complete, the configuration of the app can be started by clicking on "Configure".
After the initial configuration, the "Configure" button will turn into a gear. Here you can make subsequent settings and, for example, connect additional devices.
The app will guide you through the configuration process in the following steps.
Step 1: Customize the name of the workplace
In the first step, the name (1) of the workstation can be customized. Assigning a name that is as descriptive as possible makes it easier to select it later in the overview.
By activating the option "Last workstation, status is set to finished" (2), the status of the components will be marked as completed after they have been reported as completed at this workstation.

Assignment of the name and option as the last workstation
Step 2: Filter Worklist
Here you can define which conditions the components, assemblies, and articles must meet in order to be displayed in the worklist list of a work center. To make it easier for you to adjust, the following options are already suggested:
Select the "Apply Workstation-Related Filter for Pre-Assembly Sorting" option to view all components. "Apply work center-related filters for sorting before assembly and take into account operations carried out" display all components that have already been processed on upstream work centers. These two options lead to the selection of the grouping in the next step. You can group the components that belong to either the same sales order or the same order item within a sales order.

Selecting the option in the "Worklist" step

Set grouping
By selecting "Customize workplace-related filters in expert mode", you will be taken to the following view. Here you can set filters according to your requirements.
Tips for Expert Mode:
Depending on the work center type, it makes sense to display only those components, assemblies or articles that are relevant to the respective work center.
Use Select Column to select the column to which the filter is to be applied. In the Select Operator field, select the operator you want, and in the Type or Select Value section, enter the value you want to filter by.
With the help of the status fields, such as "Edge banding status", you can set whether the production progress of a component should be taken into account.
By clicking on the "+ And" button, an And condition is added to the existing filter (2).
Clicking on the "+ Or" button will add a new filter to the existing filter in the form of an OR condition (3).
Just give it a try! You can adjust the settings at any time or use the predefined options.

Step 3: Configure the scanner
If you are using a tablet, you must first connect the scanner to the tablet via Bluetooth. By scanning the displayed QR code with the scanner, the correct integration is checked. More details can be found here.

Connecting the scanner via QR code
The integration of a scanner is optional. However, working with the application in combination with a scanner is significantly simplified. In the Devices & Hardware section, we have listed some recommended models . If necessary, a device can also be added later by calling up the configuration again.
If you do not want to include a scanner, click on "Continue without scanner" to proceed to the next step.
CUBE">Step 4: Configure the HOMAG CUBE
Now connect the HOMAG CUBE to the app.
The HOMAG CUBE can be added by scanning the label on the back. The tablet (or the Bluetooth scanner connected in the previous step) can be used for this purpose.
For very large shelves that require a large number of LED strips, several HOMAG CUBEs can be added one after the other.
After all HOMAG CUBEs have been successfully added, the devices that are to be used at this workstation can be selected.

Adding a HOMAG CUBE

Adding the HOMAG CUBE takes some time

Step 5: Configuring the LED Strips
LED strips installed on the shelf help to easily identify shelf compartments during removal or storage.
The LED strips connected to the HOMAG CUBE can be easily integrated by clicking on "Add LED strip".

Adding an LED Strip
The number of LEDs (1) and the connection (2) per LED strip (5) must be stored.
The connector indicates whether the connector of the LED strip was mounted on the right or on the left side.
The number of LEDs depends on the length of the LED bar.
Length of LED strip | Number of LEDs |
|---|---|
2,504 mm | 124 |
2,922 mm | 145 |
To simplify configuration, the LED bar lights up in the color scheme shown.

Configuring an LED Strip
Color | Description |
|---|---|
Green (3) | Last LED; If the length is selected correctly, the last LED will glow green. |
Red / Blue (6) | Block of 10 LEDs; There are alternating 10 LEDs in red and 10 in blue. This simplifies counting. |
White | LED controller number; This color is only used when multiple LED controllers are connected. |
Orange (4) | Number of LED Box |
Step 6: Configuration of storage bins
You can add the individual compartments or storage bins in the last step.
For this purpose, each compartment is provided with a code (see Setting up the shelf). After that, each individual compartment or location can be created by scanning with a Bluetooth scanner or by clicking on "Add storage location" with the tablet.

Add storage space
If an LED strip is available, a specific LED area can be assigned to the compartment. This then lights up later in the work with the shelf when something is to be removed from the compartment or stored in the compartment. This selected area will now light up as you configure the shelf.
It is also possible to create storage locations without an LED display. This is useful, for example, for pallets on the floor or in a warehouse further away.

Step 7: Complete the configuration
Once all the steps have been completed, the configuration is complete and the workstation is ready to use.

Completing the configuration
Tip: The configuration can be restarted at any time by clicking on the configuration icon .
