The materialAssist app is part of the Edgeband Management Set and the Cutting Production Set.
Before the first use, the components of the respective set must be commissioned. As soon as the commissioning is complete, the configuration of the app can be started by clicking on Configure. If you want to add a new workstation, click on "+ Add Workstation" (1).
After the initial configuration, the "Configure" button will turn into a gear (2). Here you can make further settings later.

Start configuration
If you want to create a new work center, first select the work center type.
Throughout the configuration process, you save your settings by clicking "Confirm & Next" to move on to the next step.

Selecting the Workstation Type
The app guides you through the configuration in individual steps.
Step 1: Customize the name of the workplace
In the first step, the name of the workplace can be customized. The assignment of a meaningful and clear name makes it easier to identify and select in the overview later.

Step 2: Configure the scanner
In the next step, you have the option of integrating a scanner. This is optional, but it simplifies working with the application. In the Devices & Hardware section, we have listed some recommended models. To do this, you must first connect the scanner to the tablet via Bluetooth. A scan of the matrix code displayed checks the correct integration. More details can be found here.
If you do not want to include a scanner, click on "Continue without scanner" to proceed to the next step. By calling up the configuration again, you can also connect additional devices at a later time.

CUBE">Step 3: Configure the HOMAG CUBE
Now connect the HOMAG CUBE to the app.
The HOMAG CUBE can be added by scanning (1) the label on the back. The tablet (or the Bluetooth scanner connected in the previous step) can be used for this purpose.
For very large shelves that require a large number of LED strips, several HOMAG CUBEs can be added one after the other. After all HOMAG CUBEs have been successfully created, the devices that are to be used at this workstation can be selected (2).

Selecting and adding a HOMAG CUBE

Adding a new HOMAG CUBE takes some time
Step 4: Configuring the Printer
The integration of a printer is necessary for the output of labels. The devices connected to the HOMAG CUBE are displayed for selection in the following step.
It is also possible to select a printer that is connected to another HOMAG CUBE at another workstation. However, please take into account the size of the labels inserted in the device.

Integration of a printer
Before using the printer, it is necessary to select the label size (1) and calibrate it (2).
The printout can be verified by issuing a test label (3). The orientation can be adjusted if necessary by changing the spacing (4).

Step 5: Configuring the LED Strips
Note:
This step is not necessary if the materialAssist is used together with the Cutting Production Set and can therefore be skipped. To do this, click on "Continue without LEDs".
LED strips installed on the shelf help to easily identify shelf compartments during removal or storage. You can easily integrate the LED strips connected to the HOMAG CUBE by clicking on Add LED strip.

Adding an LED Strip
The number of LEDs (1) and the connection (2) must be stored. The connector indicates whether the connector of the LED strip was mounted on the right or on the left side. The number of LEDs depends on the length of the LED bar.
Length of LED strip | Number of LEDs |
|---|---|
2,504 mm | 124 |
2,922 mm | 145 |
To simplify configuration, the LED bar lights up in the color scheme shown.
Color | Description |
|---|---|
Green (3) | Last LED; If the length is selected correctly, the last LED will glow green. |
Red / Blue (6) | Block of 10 LEDs; There are alternating 10 LEDs in red and 10 in blue. This simplifies counting. |
White | LED controller number; This color is only used when multiple LED controllers are connected. |
Orange (4) | Number of LED Box |

Step 6: Configuration of storage bins
You can add the individual compartments or storage bins in the last step.
For this purpose, each compartment is provided with a code (see Setting up the shelf). After that, each individual compartment or space can be created by scanning with a Bluetooth scanner or by clicking on Add storage compartment with the tablet.

Adding a Bin
If an LED strip is available, a specific LED area can be assigned to the compartment. This then lights up later in the work with the shelf when something is to be removed from the compartment or stored in the compartment. This selected area will now light up as you configure the shelf.
It is also possible to create storage locations without an LED display. This is the default setting when using materialAssist in the Cutting Production Set. This function is also useful, for example, for pallets on the floor or in a more distant material warehouse.
Tip:
For example, a compartment "Goods Receipt" can be specified so that the material can be posted there immediately as arrived.

Step 7: Complete the configuration
Once all the steps have been completed, the configuration is complete and the workstation is ready to use.
