Process parameter

Automatic adjustment of the saw

The materialManager Advanced provides optimized process parameters for your HOMAG saw according to the panel categories and tools used. The process parameters are automatically transferred to the machine when the saw blade is inserted and used during cutting. Of course, you have the option of adjusting the parameters to your needs at any time. In order to automatically adjust the process parameters on the saw to the desired machining quality, it is necessary to store your panel types in the materialManager (see Adding a Material Type) and your saw blades in twinio . An overview of the saw blades created in twinio can be found in the materialManager under the "Saw Blades" tab.

The information about the saw blade, as well as the materials and process parameters, is transmitted to the machine when the tool is inserted. The saw uses the suggested settings for the dividing process and reports the incurred tool life back to the cloud, broken down by material per saw blade. This gives you an overview of the use of your saw blades at all times (see saw blades).

Process parameters for cutting

The process parameters can be found  under the "Cutting" tab. Here are the material categories (carrier material) with the possible coatings in each case.

Overview of Material Categories

By selecting a material category and coating, the preset parameters for the existing main saw blade types are displayed.

Übersicht der Prozessparameter für die Materialkategorie und Beschichtung "Grobspannplatte (OSB-Platte) Unbeschichtet"

Overview of the process parameters for the material category and coating "Coarse chipboard (OSB board) Uncoated"

The parameters set by the materialManager Advanced are:

Parameters

Description

(1) Tooth feed (up to 20 mm)

The tooth feed defines how much material is removed per tooth. A higher tooth feed leads to more performance (part output), but can negatively affect quality. The set tooth feed is used for small packages up to a height of 20 mm. For higher packages, tooth advancement is reduced

(2) Tooth feed (at maximum package)

The tooth feed defines how much material is removed per tooth. A higher tooth feed leads to more performance (part output), but can negatively affect quality. The set value is used for the maximum possible package height on the saw. This process parameter is only visible if it has been enabled in the Crop / Options section.

(3) Cutting speed

The cutting speed indicates the circumferential speed of the saw blade. High cutting speeds can lead to vibrations and thus to unsteady running behavior (e.g. wave cut). This parameter is only visible if at least one of the connected machines has the "Frequency Control" option for the main saw.

(4) Saw blade protrusion

The saw blade protrusion indicates how far the saw blade extends above the inserted material. A high saw blade protrusion (= small cutting arc length) leads to longer service life, but can cause vibrations of the saw blade and lead to poorer quality.

These process parameters can be defined for both the rough cut (5) and the finished cut (6).

If a tool is not suitable for processing a material category in the desired quality, a note (7) is displayed in the overview. If no parameters have yet been defined for a material category and there are no default values from HOMAG GmbH, an orange warning sign is displayed for this category.
