Edge overhang, edge thickness and joining dimension can now be individually controlled

With the new Edgeband overhang and edge calculation settings, you can tailor the Cutting dimensions and edge requirements even more precisely to your actual manufacturing processes. Choose between different processing modes, automatically account for edge thicknesses and joining dimensions, and get results that better suit your machines, materials, and workflows.

Configurable Edgeband overhang

Each workshop works with different machines and settings. Modern Edge banding machines often require lower Edgeband overhang than previous standard values.

That's why you can now set the Edgeband overhang in intelliDivide Cutting individually. This allows the Material demand to be calculated more realistically and optimally adapted to your production.

Editing overhang per side settings

Calculation

The Edgeband overhang is taken into account at both ends of the Edge .

Edge demand = Edge length + 2 × Edgeband overhang

Example

  • Component length: 800 mm

  • Edge overhang: 10 mm

Edge demand  = 800 mm + 2 × 10 mm = 820 mm

For the edging of this side, 820 mm of edge material is required.

Configurable editing modes

Depending on the selected mode, the cutting dimensions of a component are calculated on the basis of the desired finished dimensions.

Processing mode edge banding

By default, the mode No edge calculation is selected.

Consideration of edge thickness

Depending on the selected mode, the edge thickness is directly included in the calculation. This allows cutting dimensions to be determined more precisely.

Processing mode: Subtract edge thickness

If an edge code cannot be found in the materialManager, a warning is displayed.

Calculation

The starting point is the desired finished dimensions and the edge thicknesses stored in the materialManager .

Length = Finish length - Edge thickness left - Edge thickness right

Width = Finish width - Edge thickness back - Edge thickness front

Example

Desired finished length: 800 mm

  • Edging on both long sides

  • Edge thickness left: 1 mm

  • Right edge thickness: 1 mm

Length = 800 mm - 1 mm - 1 mm = 798 mm

The component is cut to size with a length of 798 mm . After edging, the desired finished length of 800 mm is created.

Fixed joining dimension

In addition, a fixed joining measure can be defined. This allows machining allowances to be specifically taken into account for subsequent trimming.

Processing mode: Fixed joint dimension

Calculation

Length = Finish length - Edge thickness left - Edge thickness right + 2 × Fixed joint dimension

Width = Finish width - Edge thickness back - Edge thickness front + 2 × Fixed joint dimension

Example

Desired finished length: 800 mm

  • Edging on both long sides

  • Edge thickness left: 1 mm

  • Right edge thickness: 1 mm

  • Fixed joining size: 2 mm

Length = 800 mm - 1 mm - 1 mm + 2 × 2 mm = 802 mm

The component is cut to size with a length of 802 mm . After edging and trimming, the desired finished length of 800 mm is created.
