Boards and Edge band coils

materialAssist is divided into two main areas: materialAssist Boards (1), for managing Boards and Offcuts , and materialAssist Edge (2), for managing Edge band coils in your facility. Although the two areas are similar in their basic structure, they have different processes due to the specific work processes for Edge bands and Boards . Within the "Boards" and "Edgebanding" areas, several Workstations can be created as required.

Differentiation between materialAssist Boards and materialAssist Edge

In the "Store" tab in materialAssist Boards , you can see all panels and Offcuts that either do not yet have a Storage space or have been stored at another Workstation . In this view, you have the option to store materials. In the "Remove tab, you will find the materials that already have a storage location at this workstation and are therefore ready for removal .

In the "Inventory" tab of materialAssist Edge you will get a complete overview of all Edge band coils. This includes both Edge band coils that have already been stored and those that are located at other workstations or on edge banding machines (if corresponding machines are connected) or have not yet been stored at all. In contrast, the "inventory in storage" tab shows only the Edge band coils that are stored at the selected work center.

Adding a Material

When materialAssist Boards , the "Store" tab is opened by default. Boards are basically divided into the types of slabs and remnants

Therefore, you can either "Add board(s))" (1) or "+ Add offcut(s) (2).

In materialAssist Edge , Edge band coils are stored in the "Inventory" or "inventory in storage" tab. There you can manage your material inventory and store edgeband rolls using the "+ Add coil(s) button.

This will open the "Select Material " dialog. This view is divided into two sections. At the top, the materials that you have already created in the materialManager are displayed. Below you will find the catalog data of various manufacturers. If you only want to see your own data from the materialManager , you can use materialManager only" to hide the catalog data of the manufacturers. In order to be able to better distinguish your own material types from catalog data, the plate code or edge code of the material types that have already been created is highlighted in bold.

If you have not yet created a required material in materialManager , you can search for it in the manufacturer's catalog or create a new one manually via "Material not found in the catalog?". Similar to materialManager , the plate catalog includes the material master data of the manufacturer Egger, while the edge tape catalog contains the material data of the manufacturers REHAU, EGGER, Harnipex and Ostermann.

As with adding materials in materialManager, you can filter or search specifically for the desired material type.

A material type can also be easily selected by scanning by capturing the QR or barcode on the Material using the scan icon on the tablet or a connected Bluetooth scanner. The scanned information is then used for a search from which you can select the appropriate material.

In the case of scanned article numbers from the manufacturer Ostermann, it is checked whether the edge band type has already been created in the materialManager . If so, the dialog for adding roles opens. If the type has not yet been created, the dialog for adding a new edge band type appears.

Material per Scan suchen

Search for material by scan

Once you've found the type of material you want, select the card that goes with it. This opens a dialog in which various information can be stored depending on the material type.

For all materials, you have the option of recording the number and any comments. This is particularly helpful if the material is e.g. was ordered as part of a specific sales order or if you would like to note down specific notes about it. For both plates and edge bands, you can specify the management type. Leftovers are stored as a single plate as standard (1).

Tip:

The Notes column can be added in the table views of materialAssist and  materialManager .

You also have the option of assigning a storage bin (2). You can either select it from the existing list or alternatively scan the label at the storage location. As soon as you select the storage location by scanning, the app automatically records the storage and the printer outputs the appropriate labels. Alternatively, you can add the material to your inventory by clicking "Confirm". If you click on "Label & Confirm", the material will be put away at the selected storage location and the labels will be printed according to the selected management type (3).

For Edge band coils as well as for leftovers, it is also possible to adjust the dimensions (4) accordingly.

Tip:

For example, the Assign Storage Bin Later option can be used to post a goods receipt without assigning the material to a specific storage bin. The material already appears in the apps and you always have an overview of your current material inventory.
