Configuration

materialAssist is part of the edgeband assistent Edgeband Management Set as well as the Cutting Production Set.

Before the first use, setting up the components of the respective set is necessary. Once the set up is complete, you can start configuring the app by clicking on configure. When you wish to add a new workstation, click on "+ Add Workstation" (1).

After the first configuration, the configure button turns into a gear wheel (2). Here, you can adjust your settings at a later time.

Starting the configuration

When creating a new workstation, first choose the type of the workstation.

During the whole configuration process, save your settings by clicking "Confirm & continue" and proceed to the next step.

The app guides you through the configuration process step by step.

Step 1: Customize the name of the workstation

In the first step, the name of the workplace can be customized. Assigning a name which is as meaningful as possible makes it easier to select it later in the overview.

Step 2: Configuration of the scanner

In the next step you have the option to integrate a Bluetooth scanner. This is optional but it makes working with the application easier. We have listed some recommended models in the Devices & Hardware section. To do so, you must first connect the scanner to the tablet via Bluetooth. Scanning the displayed matrix code verifies the correct integration. More details can be found here.

If you do not wish to integrate a scanner, you can proceed to the next step by clicking on "Continue without scanner". You can add additional devices at a later time by reopening the configuration.

Step 3: Configuration of the HOMAG CUBE

Now you connect the HOMAG CUBE to the app.

The HOMAG CUBE is added by scanning (1) the label on the rearside. The tablet (or the previously connected Bluetooth scanner) can be used for this purpose.

For very large racks requiring multiple LED strips, several HOMAG CUBEs can be added successively. After all HOMAG CUBEs have been added successfully, please select the devices to be used at this workstation (2).

Step 4: Configuration of the printer

The integration of a printer is necessary for printing labels. The devices connected to the HOMAG CUBE are displayed for selection in the next step.

It is also possible to select a printer which is connected to another HOMAG CUBE at a different workstation. Please take the size of the labels inserted into the device into account.

Before using the printer, it is necessary to select the label size (1) and calibrate it (2).

The print can be verified by outputting a test label (3). The alignment can be modified, if necessary, by adjusting the spacing (4).

Step 5: Configuration of the LED-strips

Note: This step is not necessary when materialAssist is used in combination with the Cutting Production Set and can therefore be skipped. In this case, please click on "Continue without LEDs".

LED strips installed on the rack help with easily identifying shelves during removal or storage. You can simply integrate the LED strips connected to the HOMAG CUBE by clicking on add LED strip (1).

Adding an LED strip

Adding an LED strip

The number of LEDs (1) and the connection (2) must be specified. The connection indicates whether the LED strip is mounted on the right or left side. The number of LEDs depends on the length of the LED strip.

Length of the LED strip Number of LEDs
2.504 mm 124
2.922 mm 145

To simplify the configuration, the LED strip lights up in the displayed color scheme

Color Description
Green (3) Last LED; If the length is selected correctly, the last LED lights up green.
Red / blue (6) Block of 10 LEDs; 10 LEDs light up alternately in red and blue. This simplifies counting.
White Number of the LED controller; This color is only used when several LED controllers are connected.
Orange (4) Number of the LED-Box

Step 6: Configuration of the storage locations

The individual shelves or storage locations are added in the last step.

Therefore each compartment is labeled with a code (see rack setup). Afterwards, each individual compartment or location can be created by scanning with a Bluetooth scanner or by clicking on "add storage location" when using the tablet.

Adding a storage location

Adding a storage location

If an LED strip is available, a specific LED section can be assigned to the storage compartment. This section will light up when items are removed from or stored in the compartment when working with the rack. The selected section will light up while you configure the rack.

It is also possible to create storage locations without LED display. This is the default setting when you use materialAssist in combination with the Cutting Production Set. Furthermore, you might choose this option, e.g., for pallets on the floor or a distant storage location. This feature is also useful for e.g. boards stored on the floor or a more distant material storage.

Note: A compartment labeled "Goods Received" can be designated so that materials can be immediately recorded when they arrive.

Step 7: Completing the configuration

Once all steps have been completed, the configuration is complete and the workstation can be used.
