Total cost calculation – is saving material really worth the extra time?

The challenge:
You know the situation: You have a cutting plan that utilizes the material perfectly, but the machine runs significantly longer to achieve it. Is the material saving really worth the additional machine time? Until now, the answer was often just a gut feeling.
The solution:
From now on, you can make this decision directly in intelliDivide. In the machine parameters, you can now store an imputed hourly rate (cost rate) for your machine. Based on this value, intelliDivide calculates the production costs for the estimated time and adds them to the material costs.
Your advantage:
- The full picture: You immediately see the total cost for each optimization result.
- Better decisions: See at a glance whether the "low waste" result is actually cheaper than the "short production time" result when labor and machine running costs are included.
- Full flexibility: You decide what goes into the calculation. Do you only want to consider energy costs (electricity, compressed air)? Or do you calculate with the full machine hourly rate including operator and depreciation? You have control over the calculation.
How it works:
- Open the settings of your machine in intelliDivide.
- Enter your individual value in the new field for the hourly rate.
- Start an optimization – the results will now show you the calculated total costs.
